On the idyllic Island of Palm Beach, 1920's Mediterranean villas and charming flower-filled Vias built by Addison Mizner are set amongst a sophisticated, elegant tropical paradise of manicured hedges dotted with citrus trees and colorful bougainvillea.
The town was founded in 1880's by the wealthy railroad industrialist Henry Flagler, who built the first hotel, the Royal Poinciana, as a winter retreat for wealthy winter weary Northerners. In the 1920's, the architect Addison Mizner designed the town to be reminiscent of Venice and the grand Mediterranean architecture of Europe with lavish hotels, opulent estates and winding streets filled with shops set amongst stunning landscaped gardens. The grand architecture, estates and hotels became the winter retreat for a new kind of American royalty who were eager to showcase their wealth with grandiose homes and an unending flow of extravagant parties.
Today, Palm Beach remains a pristine enclave of elegance and sophistication attracting the wealthy titans of industry as well as a host of others residents and visitors who relish in the beauty of the town, the friendly residents and the unmatched Palm Beach lifestyle.
